A metal products company wants to expand its business scope by hiring an “old man”.
Hartlepool metal mesh pioneer The Expanded Metal Company has appointed Muhammad Short as their new business development manager.
The former employee returned to the company to strengthen the market presence of the ExMesh line and increase the visibility of the division.
It also hopes to identify and secure new opportunities in a range of sectors, including utilities, transportation, data centers and telecommunications.
The ExMesh range from Expanded Metal Company offers innovative British-made fencing systems, gates and other security products designed to protect people, property and infrastructure from a wide range of threats.
Starting his career at The Expanded Metal Company, he joined security door specialist Sunray Engineering as a business development manager.
He then held a sales and export position with the Bradbury Group, a manufacturer of security products, before being promoted to Business Development Manager for Homegrown Timber (Rail) Ltd where he worked in the company’s fencing department.
ExMesh products are designed and manufactured at Expanded Metal’s 25,000 sq.
The company has been in business for over 125 years and was the first fence manufacturer in the UK to achieve Secured by Design status.
Managing Director Philip Astley said: “We are delighted to welcome Mohammed back to Expanded Metals.
“He is a successful business development manager who has been at the forefront of the security industry for many years and has in-depth knowledge and extensive hands-on installation experience.
“Mohammad understands the challenges faced by fencing contractors, security experts and end users and combines this with a genuine passion for the industry.
“ExMesh has a talented team dedicated to solving physical security issues in several key areas.
“I look forward to supporting ExMesh’s growth in the security product market and meeting new and existing customers!”
The ExMesh range includes certified safety fence systems, climb protection and cages, as well as Securilath, the only range certified by the LPCB when applied to metal studs, wood studs and block walls.
It also manufactures ExMesh Fastrack, a railing system designed for the rail industry, and ExMesh Electra, designed for the energy and telecommunications industries.
The company has a rich industrial heritage dating back to 1889 when it was founded by John French Golding, inventor and patentee of expanded metals.
